14th National Biobanking Symposium 2026. Rethinking Biobanking!

What will the biobank of the future look like? What infrastructure does medical research need to make even better use of biospecimens and their associated data in the years ahead? Under the motto “Rethinking Biobanking!”, the 14th National Biobanking Symposium brought together the biobanking community in Berlin on 15 and 16 September 2026 to discuss current developments, innovative solutions and shared challenges.

A key focus this year was the Biobank Platform for Germany, which aims to provide cross-site access to biospecimens and data through a one-stop shop. Beyond this, the program covered a broad spectrum of topics, ranging from day-to-day biobanking practice to strategic questions about the future: How can automation and emerging technologies make processes more efficient? How can high quality standards be combined with greater sustainability?
